In the latest @ausdauerwelt episode, I was honoure In the latest @ausdauerwelt episode, I was honoured to have a chat with @linusaurusx - one of the fastest and most accomplished Filipino triathletes out there, fresh off the plane, coming back from Ironman World Championships in Nice a couple of days ago. We had met back at Challenge Roth 2016 for the first time, and he struck me with his fitness, bouncing around, while I could barely walk behind the finish line:P Many thanks to Linus for the first interview - really looking forward to part 2! #triathlon_in_the_world #triathlonlifestyle #filipinotriathlete
On to the swim! The waters were pretty calm, and w On to the swim! The waters were pretty calm, and we were in good spirits. My plan was to find "fast feet" to draft a little bit, but over the 2kms (100m extra, of course) that I had covered, I was only able to draft for a couple hundred meters - definitely something to improve! I was aiming for a 33-34 min split, and ended with 35:35 - given the extra distance, I was still happy with it. Especially, since I had to clean my googles half way and almost lost my golden (!) swim cap. Some people were asking me, how to get that special swim cap? Well, let´s say, it is a bit similar to a frequent flyer programme...;) Anyways, out of the water, I happily spotted Bea (@mundomestiza) who cheered me on, and off I went to hit my numbers, set a new bike and overall Ironman 70.3 PB - keeping in mind that "pain" is just the French word for bread! #nopainnogain💪 #ironmanswim #triathlon #trilife #sub5
The bike ride over 90 km started pretty well, and The bike ride over 90 km started pretty well, and going north on the highway was a lot of fun, reaching a top speed of 45 km/h and above. But going south, my goal to go sub 2:30, averaging 36 km/h, was soon derailed by the headwind. I had to put my head down and leave my comfort zone. I wanted to stay within 200-210 Watts as much as possible to not completely "explode" on the bike, and it was a good idea to not go "all in", so I could still run a decent half marathon. On the last 25-30 km stretch, I found a group around the fastest age grouper from Sri Lanka, named "Shane", and we pushed each other quite a bit and did everything to stay within the rules and outside the drafting zone, knowing that the race marshalls were always close by. I think we did a good job, but in the end, I missed my goal by about 3 minutes. Anyways, still my very best bike split so far during a half ironman, and I will do my best to finally beat the 2:30 at Tweed Enduro on Feb 14, 2026! #racemode #pushinglimits #personalbest #triathlonlife #triathlonlifestyle
I start a little @ironman70.3sunshinecoast race re I start a little @ironman70.3sunshinecoast race report in reverse order with this image. It was taken by Max’ girlfriend (many thanks for this!) and sums it up quite nicely: I had to grit my teeth for the most part of the run, since my left quad started to cramp up, pretty much from km 8 on. Coming off the bike, I was not sure whether I had overbiked (again like at IMOZ) or if it only felt that hard because of the headwind going south. Anyways, right out of T2, I kinda bumped into this fellow gentleman next to me, and after a few words exchanged, it turned out that he was German! I don’t know, if I was driving him nuts at one point with me babbling around, being happy about talking German gibberish for some distraction, but it certainly helped (me) to keep the pace steady, since we were both aiming for a 5 min/km pace. He told me that he was 19 (!), had a swimming background and was doing his very first half ironman! And this, while traveling “Down Under” and visiting family in Brizzy. I don’t know exactly, how I managed to keep up the pace but it worked out in the end, and some unforgettable memories were made. Safe further travels to @maexposure and his girlfriend, thx for the company, and kudos to your awesome achievement, Max! Looking forward to having you on the show at @ausdauerwelt Podcast, soon;) #triathlonlife #grit #painistemporary
Today was the day! Triathlon 42 at age 42, and my Today was the day! Triathlon 42 at age 42, and my 10th half iron distance race. My goal to finish sub5 was very long in the making (actually, more than 11 years) but was meant to finally happen at @ironman70.3sunshinecoast today:) The swim in pristine waters took a bit longer than expected, the headwind on the bike made a sub 2:30 split impossible for me, but a 1:45 half marathon (despite cramps) was on spot to finish in 4:58:40. A big dream came true, and would have not been possible without the support of many people, in particular my wife (@mundomestiza):* Kudos also to fellow @byrontriclub team members @thalitapborges and Zvi for their awesome results, and many thanks for all the messages - I certainly felt the energy out there🦾🙏🏽🏊🏽🚴🏽🏃🏽🚀🇭🇲 The next highlight will be my very first participation at the @worldtriathlon World Championships in about 4 weeks where I am going to race for team PHI🇵🇭 #triathlonlifestyle #grateful #dreambig

Über mich

Hallo!
